Client stories: Aligning executive talent for growth and acquisition in a fast-growing technology company

Updated: May 14

The Performance Equation partnered with a fast-growing technology company specialising in cloud-based contact centre solutions who was gearing up for an ambitious next stage, including a planned acquisition. On paper, their executive team had everything: talented individuals, deep expertise, and a shared commitment to the company’s success. But in practice, something was holding them back.

Despite their strengths, the leadership group wasn’t fully aligned. Priorities overlapped, communication faltered, and a sense of fragmentation meant that even with all the right people in place, the team wasn’t operating at its full potential. The CEO recognised that if they didn’t address how the team worked together, the business risked falling short of its ambitious goals.

The Approach

We began by working individually with each executive, helping them identify and understand their personal strengths using the Strengthscope® profile. Through one-to-one coaching, we explored how each leader could tap more effectively into what energised them, where they might be unintentionally limiting their own or others’ contributions, and how they could bring their best to the team.

When we brought the leadership group together, the focus was on building alignment, uncovering how their strengths complemented each other, where critical gaps existed, and how they could bridge those gaps to meet the business’s needs. Together, we examined what was getting in the way of smooth, focused collaboration and worked through practical, clear strategies to remove those barriers.

We also ran a dedicated team session to strengthen communication with the company’s investors, ensuring the leadership team could present a unified, confident voice externally as well as internally.

The Outcomes

By the end of the process, the executive team had shifted from working in parallel to working in sync. They had greater clarity on their shared goals, improved trust, and stronger alignment, all of which positioned them to lead the business confidently through its next phase of growth and subsequent acquisition.

The CEO reflected that the work didn’t just strengthen the team’s effectiveness; it unlocked the performance that had been there all along, hidden behind everyday obstacles and misalignments. By removing what was getting in the way, the team could finally deliver on the full promise of its combined talent and do so in a way that made the journey not just productive, but energising and even enjoyable.

Why This Matters

If you’re a senior leader facing similar challenges, where you know the talent is there, but you’re not seeing the results you should, this story shows what’s possible when you clear the path for your team to perform at its best.

We help leadership teams uncover what’s already working, remove what’s holding them back, and move forward with clarity, confidence, and focus.
